Mark van Baal is the founder of Follow This. He realized that in order to make change, especially in Big Oil, he would have to become a shareholder. His thinking was that if you can buy enough shares to submit a resolution to the shareholders’ meeting, then you will only have to convince the other shareholders. This idea grew into Follow This. Their mission is to empower shareholders to compel Big Oil to drive the energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables.
