The theme of this year: Paradigm
Paradigm is a system of theoretical, philosophical and scientific models and assumptions that serve as a starting point and framework for analyzing, interpreting and describing reality. Or, in short, our collective conscience.
Characteristic of a paradigm is that we are usually not aware of our own paradigm: it includes propositions and assumptions which are so self-evident for us (e.g. through education) that we become blind to their shortcomings
The day will be divided into three sub-themes:
- Knowledge & Behavior: Where do we get our knowledge from? Can everything we read or hear be trusted, or is too much of our knowledge based on fake news? How does this and our accompanying behavior affect our paradigm?
- Influence: How do we influence others? What effect does our influence have on our current and future paradigm?
- Paradigm: What is our current paradigm within the organization? How did we get here? And how can we change?
Sign up for site tour:
The (steel making) site of Tata Steel is as large as the city of Bussum and the area is spread over three municipalities. Behind the gates of our company a lot happens: raw materials arrive by ship and, after several process steps, are transported as coils of steel that go to our customers by rail, barge, ocean-going vessel or truck. Finally, our steel, a sustainable product that is infinitely recyclable, ends up with you, the consumer. For safety reasons, the Tata Steel site in IJmuiden does not allow private visits. However, this is your chance to see the site!
We will drive around the site with a touring car and tell the story of how steel is made. But of course also about the future way of making steel with hydrogen. We visit the Hot Roll Mill 2 where red-hot slabs of steel are rolled out into steel coils. Steel, in whatever form, is an integral part of everyday life. Whether we eat, travel, work or recreate; steel plays a role in everything we do.
